"Anything is worth writing a song about" -- Bob Marley
Hi to all, welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy the tunes!
“Underneath the Sun” was recorded in Buenos Aires - Argentina, in the summer of 2010 with a little bit of help from my friends and some great musicians. I, however, am not argentine, I was born in Croatia in 1980, raised in South Africa and since then have lived in countries around the world travelling, in search of meaning and inspiration. I have seen, found and learned much. The world is such a beautiful place and i can't bear the thought of living without knowing at least a big part of it so it is my intention to live abroad in as many countries as i can. It is a difficult choice to keep moving because you're always leaving friends behind, seeing new faces and sometimes i don't know where "home" is. I like to think i have more than one by now because I have family and friends all over the world. Since my first visit to Buenos Aires, i fell in love with the city and culture and since then i have left but somehow always ended up coming back. So here i am...for now anyway.
The acoustic guitar is by far my favourite instrument because it has such a wide variety of percussive sounds and dynamics and it's also very portable. The science of sound and modern day recording still has not caught up to the complexity of sounds that an acoustic guitar can produce. Only our ears can truly experience this. When i was 14, i got my first guitar but never took it seriously until i was in my early 20's, and with every passing year, i became more and more enthused until i began writing songs in 2006. With the whole singing/songwriting thing, the vocal melodies and guitar chords are so accesible to you and when i began writing the music and it started sounding like i wanted it to, it felt great because i could make it the way i wanted to hear it. There is some satisfaction in that because if you go out to a restaurant for example, and order a pasta, you might find that it doesnt taste quite like you want it to. Maybe the the salsa is too watery, or the noodles overcooked. When you have the ability and know-how to make that dish yourself with all your favourite ingredients, it will always taste just like you want it to.
Some people say you need to be "talented" to play a musical instrument, they say you need to be born with some kind of advanced rhythmic and hearing abilities. I dont believe in "talent". I think its a made up word to describe someone who stuck to their script and stood by what they loved and believed in. I believe in passion, it is the driving force behind all those that have started with nothing and succeeded. If you love something enough, you will without doubt find that you are talented enough to do it. If you never pulled it off, you never really wanted it enough in the first place... A lot of people get shot down by this, and never get anywhere because they think that they aren't good enough or that they aren't "talented" enough. Dont believe it, its a lie. You are talented, as talented as you need to be, in whatever you want to achieve. The only question you need to ask yourself is: "Is it worth the effort?"
So, this is my music, it is my message, the message is...... well whatever you make it out to be. I see songs as those little boards with splatters of ink on them that psychologists use to determine various things about their patients. What I mean is, songs are what you make of them, they are messages which can be interpreted in many different ways. These songs are part of a musical tradition in an ever-expanding musical genre but that ultimately finds its roots in blues, folk and reggae. You can hear the influences in most artists, where they come from and where they have been and in this way, our musical creativity is only a counterpart to our musical influence in life. As a musician I am happy to have made it thus far and to be a part of that tradition. I don't really care about getting a big record deal or making the top of the charts, what I truly wish, is to be able to make some kind of positive change in the world and to be able to inspire others as I have been inspired, to give meaning as I have received meaning and to be able to share my songs with you. What i wish is to be able to do what i love most and hope that it means something in somebody elses life.
When I die one day and someone upstairs asks me what I liked the most, I would have to say that it was music. We all love music, it brings us together, makes us feel happy and takes us onto a journey. It can heal and soothe, make you smile and cry, and take you into the thoughts and emotions of the artist. Our generation needs hope and I believe that music is the greatest force against all that is evil. It speaks louder than the politics that rule us, fights the system that teaches us to fear ourselves and puts an end to the boring pursuit of all that is mediocre. You are your hopes and dreams, and today is all you have, so be something.

Thank you!!
A huge thank you to the band, crew and studio that worked on “Underneath the Sun” in Argentina. Without you i would be far.....far behind on some dusty road still trying to find my way. Thanks to all my friends that have believed in me and given me the inspiration to write all these songs, which are fragments of the memories shared and time spent together.
Finally, thanks to all the good people around the world that have taken the time to listen to my music, without you...without somebody to share this music with.... these songs have no meaning.
